Adam Ulrich

Tenor

 
     

Adam Ulrich is a versatile tenor whose repertoire spans opera, oratorio, musical theater, and art song.  Recently he made his professional opera debut in Piedmont Opera’s La Boheme.  Other recent roles include Candide in Bernstein’s Candide at the Brevard Music Center, George Gibbs in Ned Rorem’s Our Town and Tigrane in Handel’s Radamisto, both with the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute.

Hailing from Western New York, Adam was a student of William Leyerle at the State University of New York at Geneseo where he graduated cum laude.  He is the winner of several voice competitions and the recipient of numerous scholarships including the McClellan Scholarship in Music, the Daryl Hanson Memorial Scholarship in Musical Theatre, and the Geneseo Honors and Concerto Competitions. 

Adam has frequently been seen giving public performances throughout the Western New York region.  He has appeared in concert with the Geneseo Symphony Orchestra, the Western New York Chamber Orchestra, and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra; and on stage with the Rochester Opera Factory and Mercury Opera Rochester.  He has been a featured soloist for Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Mozart’s Grand Mass in C Minor, and Mozart’s Requiem. 

Past opera credits include Acis and Galatea (Acis), Amahl and the Night Visitors (Melchior), and Die Fledermaus (Dr. Blind).  Favorite musical theatre roles include Anthony (Sweeney Todd), Edward Rutledge (1776), and Hero (A Funny Thing…Forum).  Recently, Adam gave a performance of Schubert’s Die Schone Mullerin in its entirety. 

Adam is a fellow at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute at the North Carolina School of the Arts pursuing a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance and is a student of Dr. Marilyn Taylor.
